Mike’s Work: International Development

As many of Mike’s constituents will know, he has a passion for International Development. During our time in Government, Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party understood that no woman should have to choose between herself and her baby. Mike remains dedicated to ensuring the Liberal Government continues to make this issue a top priority.

Reaching the most vulnerable mothers and children in developing countries is vital. In addition, things such as clean water and vaccinations —which we often take for granted— are desperately needed in many regions of the world. And without them, the health of countless human beings lies in jeopardy.

This need for basic provisions is magnified when dealing with expecting mothers and newborn children. Without adequate health care services many mothers and children die each year. Mike has had the privilege of visiting Tanzania with World Vision. On this trip he saw first-hand the benefits of Canada’s support to MNCH initiatives.
