Mike, Jaden and Jenae visit The Agenda with Steve Paikin
Tuesday, 26 March 2013
Mike, along with his children, Jaden and Jenae, did an interview with Steve Paikin from The Agenda for World Autism Awareness Day. Here's what Steve had to say on his blog:
Last April, the Lake family visited us at TVO, in advance of World Autism Day, to talk about how autism has affected their lives.
Mike Lake is an MP from Edmonton. His wife Deb somehow runs their lives. Jaden, their son, is 17, has autism, and doesn't speak. And Jenae is his sister, who is 13 going on 30. She's had to grow up more quickly than most because her brother's disabilities are sometimes quite profound.
We were delighted to have the Lakes visit us before, and this time, we included Jenae in the conversation because the impact autism has on siblings is worth examining as well. One family's story.
