Recently, Mike had the opportunity to meet with Shari-Lynne Gidyk, the Executive Director of the Mill Woods Family Resource Centre Society. As a parent, Mike understands and appreciates the many challenges that families face. He also understands that strong families build strong communities, and is pleased to be able to share with you information about the resources available to you in your community.
The Mill Woods Family Resource Centre provides education and support to families through community-based programs and services. They are a non-profit organization that seeks to respond to the many challenges that families face including parenting, poverty, and emotional and mental health issues. The agency staff is culturally diverse, reflecting the community of Mill Woods, and is prepared to help families of all backgrounds address the stresses of family life.
Programs and services provided by the agency include: early childhood development, children & youth services, parent education, family support, volunteer opportunities, information and referrals to community services, developmental screening for children from birth to age five, toy lending library, home visitation, and one on one short term support.
